Harnessing, current events this term we are focusing on protecting our world, by highlighting books about conservation, alternative energy sources, pollution, reforestation, climate change and the need for being aware and involved.

This is not a topic that comes easily to me, but I welcome the challenge of educating myself first.

Themes in the library also gives me the opportunity to discover those topics on which I may need to source more books, both fiction and non-fiction as well as oral stories, poetry and songs. We use language in different ways in the library, to highlight our theme for the term. Themes require some amount of preparation on the part of the Library Educator.
The school library offers the space to explore different themes and topics, create awareness and foster dialogue.
